Action E7 – “Shearwater islands “. Marketing actions and communication plans of Natura 2000 sites

The qualitive and quantitative increment in naturalistic forms of tourism and the consequent economic benefit for the inhabitants seems to be the main activity to persue for the purpose to ensure the achievement of the project objectives and manteining them over time. For this purpose communication actions will be activated. They will just based on web network to promote naturalistic forms of tourism on Pelagie islands, due to the creation of a permanent structure of multimedia communication, thus pursuing four primary goals:
• consolidating the perception of Pelagie Islands in tourism industry;
• stimulating sustainable and responsible tourism development on the Pelagie Islands;
• stimulating in both tourists and local community responsible behaviour towards the target sites and species to promote actions in defence of biodiversity;
• increasing knowledge about the objectives of Natura 2000.
Thanks to its structure, the website will allow to control access, user profile, presence on blogs, stakeholder satisfaction, perception of naturalistic offer by tourists of Pelagie islands, press review, program of activities within the LIFE project.
Internal personnel to the natural reserve “Lampedusa” will be involved for 60 days as well as a project collaborator. Outsourcing for specific aspects will also be necessary. Action E7 will run from February 2014 until June 2016.
